Did you know . . .

The American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) is a premiere professional association in the field of workplace learning and performance.  Results of a study conducted by ASTD of training practices and outcomes for 575 US companies indicated the following facts related to investments in workforce training:

  • Training and development are key ingredients in attracting and retaining talented employees.
  • Companies who invested $680 more in training per employee than the average company in the study improved their total stockholder return (TSR) the next year by six percentage points (even after considering other factors).
  • Knowing a firm's education and training investment can improve an investor's power to improve his/her investment portfolio performance since the higher a firm's investment in training the greater the likelihood of a higher TSR.
